I was convinced that the whole scene where Keith returns was a fake--like that scene in "The Body" where Joyce miraculously wakes up--that Veronica was dreaming. And I have to say, I'm a little disappointed. I'm glad Keith isn't dead--I was jumping up and down and thinking "What will [livejournal.com profile] wisdomeagle do?"--but I'm upset that my first thought, "They don't have the stones to kill off Keith" proved right. I suppose the constant comparison is unfair, but we never doubted Joss's stones, did we? And this is the first show I've really loved like this since Buffy--that was able to make me feel the way I do right now, this giddy excitement couple with the feeling that someone has ripped out my heart.

I'm also a little disappointment that the theory that fandom had pretty much settled on proved to be right--I went into this unspoiled, but I might as well might have read the spoilers since I knew everything that would happen from the speculation.

I just didn't find Cassidy's arc believable. This is almost 100% related to how deeply I identified with him at the beginning of the season; I don't want my avatar to be a mass murderer. There will be AUs, you can be sure of that. Still, I don't think his behavior in other episodes really makes criminal-mastermind-who-raped-Veronica-Cassidy plausible.

And how in the world did he get a bomb on Woody's plane? That was my initial suspicion that Keith wasn't dead--Cassidy's speech just didn't make sense on many levels, and I thought the writers were going to a "He's bluffing" place. But of course, Cassidy being the killer doesn't make sense period, and the writers went to a much more deus ex machina-y place in saving Keith.

Veronica's ending up with Logan was something I expected from the beginning. Bet you anything they break up again at the beginning of season 3.

Kendall, Kendall, Kendall--how many times can I say that I just don't care about you? I don't care why you used to be Priscilla, or why you had sex with Aaron (you needed a reason). I don't care what your connection to the Fitzpatricks was--though I resent the plot thread dangling. (Some are left dangling for future seasons, sure--but I don't want VM to become the X-Files where the dangling threads outnumber those picked up later by something akin to infinity to one.) And God knows I don't care what was in that briefcase. Although I suppose that's how they closed season 1--on a cliffhanger which was, in the end, inconsequential. So it was Logan at the door. Who really cared?

Be prepared for a lot of V.O. exposition at the beginning of season 3. Makes me miss Buffy summer hiatuses, where the vampire slayer goes on vacation to L.A. with her dad and nothing happens.

I have to say, though: I feel emotionally devastated from the last hour. Which means they must have done something right--I haven't felt like this since I saw Serenity for the first time.

Yeah, that's my show. (More thoughts later, probably. Now its time to fry stuff.)

Me neither. And it kind of ruins the season for me.
There are so many things that really still don't make sense now. Like what was Beaver's plan about the housing money? Was he just trusting Kendall to hand it over despite her name being on all the paperwork?
Plus, they didn't leave enough hints to sell me on dark!Cassidy.
I think the biggest disappointment for me is that Veronica didn't really have to do any detecting to find out it was him. She just lucked out.

Well, it seemed like she didn't know enough to not hand it over--she didn't know it was hers until that lawyer guy told her.

This didn't bother me so much as I don't really ask for much more than the illusion of Veronica doing detecting to figure it out; I don't want to be bored with the details, just the revel in the will to power. But Cassidy's arc upset me, because I identified with him pretty strongly and they definitely didn't leave enough hints.

I thought she just forgot about it. Didn't she tell Cassidy before to remember that everything was in her name, and he got all squishy-eyed, and was like "that's right, it's all in your name." I remember thinking at the time that he must be setting her up to take the fall for something illegal, though obviously that's not the case now.

For me, the mystery is part of what I enjoy about the show. With the bus crash, we didn't even know there was a Peter until the episode about the the forum being hacked, and we'd only heard the barest hint about Marcos.

But Cassidy's arc upset me, because I identified with him pretty strongly and they definitely didn't leave enough hints.
I don't identify with him, but they certainly didn't leave enough hints. Last year, having Aaron be the killer really made sense to me. I was thinking about it, and they did such a good job setting it up: I didn't want it to be Duncan or Logan, for example, or other myriad people, but I would have believed it, because there were believable reasons for all of them. This year, going into the last ep, I couldn't really come up with any theories. I feel like I was reading a murder mystery, whose author cheated and didn't leave any clues for the audience to find.
