First off, happy belated birthday to [livejournal.com profile] driftterskip!

Secondly, I want to pimp [livejournal.com profile] twinkledru's Zombie Fic Battle going on, especially since I submitted a huge chunk (almost half?) of the prompts. I'd love to see them written, and will probably tackle a few sometime today.

In the meantime, I'm working on top five lists and other meme responses. You can probably expect to see the "15 'cests that never were" pretty soon--I already picked the fiftee characters and just need to write the marginalia.
alixtii: Peter and Susan, in extreme close-up. (incest)

Happy birthday to [livejournal.com profile] leyenn and [livejournal.com profile] joran!

I'll just be here trying to come up with 15 varieties of 'cest that never was. In particular, the sorts of character who ping my 'cest meter tend to have fathers in canon, although the excellence of those fathers could be held in doubt.

Birthday!

Happy Birthday, [livejournal.com profile] hjcallipygian!

In those months (years?) when I was first moving out off of FF.net and leaving anonymous comments in everyone's journals, your flist was my flist. Thank you.

Happy birthday, [livejournal.com profile] settiai!

I also meant to mention that I am now an official baptismal candidate at [insert name of local Episcopal church here]. Hail Eris!

Okay, my "birthday" tag brings up birthdays in October as the last time I wished anyone happy brithday, but I know I wished Ari happy birthday (because I linked to a fic when I did so), so I'm going to assume that everyone before her got wished happy birthday. (If I missed someone, I apologize!)

And so, *deep breath* happy belated birthdays to [livejournal.com profile] nwhepcat (12 November), [livejournal.com profile] joe_cot (15 Nov), [livejournal.com profile] alixnoorchis (16 Nov), [livejournal.com profile] cereta (21 Nov), [livejournal.com profile] penwiper26 (26 Nov), [livejournal.com profile] doyle_sb4 (1 Dec), [livejournal.com profile] fox1013 (8 Dec), [livejournal.com profile] jbeaners48 (10 Dec), [livejournal.com profile] inalasahl (11 Dec), [livejournal.com profile] flurblewig (13 Dec), [livejournal.com profile] viciouswishes (13 Dec), [livejournal.com profile] thenyxie (24 Dec), [livejournal.com profile] amyheartssiroc (27 Dec), [livejournal.com profile] timidlight (30 Dec), [livejournal.com profile] anonymous_sibyl (30 Dec).

Also, [livejournal.com profile] itsthevlachica, who had a birthday recently, but I'm too tired to check Facebook to find out exactly when it was.

1. Guidelines for sponsored communities, in which it is established that SA will not sell your children into prostitution. I still don't understand why any corporation would want to spend money on sponsored communities people aren't going to visit, but if they want to give money to LJ I really don't have a problem with that.

2. Two months of birthdays: [livejournal.com profile] tinpanalley (4 August, [livejournal.com profile] bethbethbeth (6 August), [livejournal.com profile] pickuptehpieces (9 August), [livejournal.com profile] penknife (13 August) [livejournal.com profile] beccaelizabeth (23 August), [livejournal.com profile] kindkit (2 September), [livejournal.com profile] lillianmorgan (3 September), [livejournal.com profile] with_character (4 September), [livejournal.com profile] bastardsnow (9 September), [livejournal.com profile] brown_betty (14 September), [livejournal.com profile] fireflyslash (20 September), [livejournal.com profile] spuffyduds (25 September), [livejournal.com profile] frogfarm (1 October), and [livejournal.com profile] zortified (6 October). Happy Birthday!

3. Unguessed first lines from the song lyric meme:
It starts when we're kids. "The Magic Store" from The Muppet Movie, guessed by [livejournal.com profile] frogfarm.
Dear blender, won't you help a first offender? "Bitchin' in the Kitchen" from Shock Treatment, guessed by [livejournal.com profile] ficbitca_bear.
Beatta Maria, you know I am a righteous man.
When I was just a lad, looking for my true vocation. . . .
I started on a journey just about a year ago.
If you could see inside my heart then you would understand.
Rot, rot, rot, rot, it's a plot, plot, plot, plot.
4. Take my poll!

Gakked from [livejournal.com profile] inlovewithnight:
Ask me anything you want about any of my stories: how I thought of the idea, what I did to write it, what I was thinking when I wrote it, what I feel about it now, what I wish I'd done differently, etc. Or ask any of the characters from particular stories something you want to know, and get an answer from them. Or both.
Gakked from [livejournal.com profile] nemo_gravis:
1. Grab the nearest book.
2. Open the book to page 123.
3. Find the fifth sentence.
4. Post the text of the next 3 sentences on your blog along with these instructions.
5. Don’t you dare dig for that "cool" or "intellectual" book in your closet! I know you were thinking about it! Just pick up whatever is closest.
Two books were equally close:
A) He lifted his hands, let them drop loosely to his sides. "Monsieur, how can I possibly sell it?" All the sadness in the world was in his voice.

B) The woman is disappointed; she is a devoted reader of Silas Flannery. "The novels I prefer," she says, "are those that make you feel uneasy from the very first page. . . ." // from the terrace of the Swiss chalet, Silas Flannery is looking through a spyglass mounted on a tripod at a young woman in a deck chair, intently reading a book on another terrace, two hundred meters below in the valley.
Also, happy belated birthday to [livejournal.com profile] someinstant (07 July), [livejournal.com profile] hermionesviolin (09 July), [livejournal.com profile] dodo31 (10 July), [livejournal.com profile] thete1 (13 July), [livejournal.com profile] musesfool (15 July), and [livejournal.com profile] cadence_k (30 July)!

I am a truly evil person. And I've been wanting to do that for ages, ever since the fic notifications for X-Men and Superman Returns began popping up in my mailbox.

Possibly as a result of the previous day's tempest, or possibly the resulting flood, I had no internet access yesterday. I'm sure it was just a momentary twick of the system, but then it sets itself that way and I need to get my dad to set it back because I don't really understand it.

So I didn't forget [livejournal.com profile] deliriumdriver's birthday. Belated birthday wishes, Erin. This is in contrast to [livejournal.com profile] seelechen, [livejournal.com profile] sinaddict and [livejournal.com profile] makesmewannadie, whose birthday wishes are belated for all the usual reasons. Happy birthday, all.

I feel like this post should have some sort of content, but I'm not really capable of producing any. So a riddle!

Long legs and short thighs,
Little head and no eyes.

I did it! I came up with another meme pun! Now I just need one for next time, and the time after that...

Birthdays: [livejournal.com profile] noelia_g (30 May); [livejournal.com profile] inlovewithnight (1 June); [livejournal.com profile] pinkdormouse (2 Junes). Happy birthday to all of you!

Am almost finished the Ender's Game fic I owe for the Apocalyptothon. Val and Petra don't seem to want to have sex, although I had to practically restrain Peter to keep him from jumping his sister. Would desperately love a beta.

Courtesy of [livejournal.com profile] penknife, who gakked it from [livejournal.com profile] neotama: The Regender. It swaps the genders of all the characters in any fic (or any website at all, for that matter). Not all that effective on my fic, as it tends to get confused with names that are also words like Dawn and Faith, and turns Darla, Dawn, and Drusilla all into Davids (creating the potential for much confusion) but is much fun nonetheless. Also it underscored for me how important role reversal and other types of gender subversion are in Buffy in general and my fic in particular: with the genders swap, much of my fic felt flatter, less original, less exciting.

Shows how well the human mind can find patterns even in randomness, and construct a story out of anything? (Anyone read Calvino's Castle of Crossed Destinies lately?)

Dr. Who Meme )

If anyone requests a commentary of my fic I will, as always, write it. May do one anyway--haven't decided yet.

Happy birthday to [livejournal.com profile] nwhepcat.

For anyone bothered by the .pdf formatting of my script "Night of the Old Ones" (Episode 1x01 of my virtual series Dark Champions), I finally figured out a way to keep the necessary formatting in HTML. You can find it here. I think it should be easier to read.

I'm working on my [livejournal.com profile] femslash_minis ficlet, and am hoping to finish it soon. I have lots of schoolwork I need to do this weekend too. Plus I still owe [livejournal.com profile] karabair the last section of Bonfire Night.

I've been meaning to do that "10 interests meme." So here it is:

A very, very happy birthday to [livejournal.com profile] wisdomeagle. I was thinking of her when I began work on the Core 4 scenes of this fic, so for her birthday I thought I'd go back and actually, you know, finish it. It was originally supposed to be my fic for [livejournal.com profile] worldstage_fic; yeah, [livejournal.com profile] inlovewithnight, I kinda missed the suggested posting date.

Anyway, happy bithday Ari!

It was a buisy week for me, and once it was over I was at skip=350 on my friends list (that was about Thursday). In the process, I missed [livejournal.com profile] spikendru's birthday. I don't have anything else to say, but I didn't want to put off wishing her a happy belated birthday any longer.
