Yeah, it would scream sexism because men have power that women don't have. There is no double standard due to the lack of equality. Sexism (http://finallyfeminism101.wordpress.com/2007/06/03/faq-arent-feminists-just-sexists-towards-men/)
How many 'female space' are out there that are about women doing what they like, exploring their sexuality and creativity? I would say that all mainstream media is about men exploring their sexuality and talking about what they like without judgment (everybody knows what kind of porn straight men like, sports they see, women they like to see in media/RL). Everything is FOR them. Of course calling mainstream Male Space (in a not judgmental way) would be sexist and naming ONE single space Female Space would be not. You could call mainstream White Space too and would be accurate but exclusive. Do you think people would say that naming one space 'native-american space' or 'african-american space' is racist? They would be privileged idiots if they do because that is just giving underpowered groups power they don't have. That's leveling the ground.
Of course that doesn't mean men are excluded, it means Fandom is predominantly female; and its identity is female (like mainstream's is male). As the OP said, that would probably be sexist in a feminist utopia. But we don't live in one.
