Hmm, yes--I was deliberately vague as to how secular reason yields ethical conclusions. Now, I don't assume that secular ethics are quite as theological as you do, in that I take you as believing that ethics as whole are more or less just a useful civil mythology, which I don't accept; but I take your point that a culture's mores are going to be informed by its religious roots.
