It was actually a part of the assignment I received from seekingxanadu that I quote Shakespeare at least twice. Lilah was really the only way I could think of to get Spike and Wesley together in a manageable way (i.e. one where I could write the scene in a night), and once she was introduced the Lilah/Wes more or less took over the story.
