I know nothing about the musical, but Neville/Mary bookverse sounds like the best idea ever. There really should be more Secret Garden fanfic.

(One of my favorite Yuletide stories is a Dickon/Mary/Colin, sort of, set during WWI with Colin and Dickon in France worrying about dying tragically).
