Memetic Drift

Another one of those first-line meme things. Here are the first lines of eleven of my favorite episodes. The Buffy and Angel ones should be easy for my flist, but there are others:

1. "Somewhere in that totality known as the universe is a galaxy called the Milky Way."

2. “Well, all right. Got the moves, don't you? I'm gonna ride you hard before I put you away, love.” [livejournal.com profile] spikendru called it: "Lies My Parents Told Me," an ep chock full of historical flashbacks with Drusilla.

3. “Bleedin' crime, is what it is. Jackin' up the bar price to pay for fixin' up this sinkhole. Not my fault insurance doesn't cover act of troll.” An ep with Dru and Harm. You don't get much better than that. Correctly identified by [livejournal.com profile] spikendru.

4. “Move away, coward. I want to make this kill.”

5. “You know, it's probably none of my business but I just gotta ask, you smell this bad when you were alive?” [livejournal.com profile] azdak guessed Buffy 5x07, "Fool for Love," and was right. This ep delves into Spike's past with lots of flashbacks, which means lots of Drusilla, which means lots of love from me. And the way it intersects with the Angel epsidoe "Darla" is just frelling cool.

6. “We're almost there. We're almost there. Yo! Anybody home?”

7. “Are you lost?” [livejournal.com profile] spikendru got close enough that I'll give her it. This is "Lie to Me" (I get it mixed up with season 7 eps "Lies My Parents Told Me" and "Never Leave Me," too), and this is one of Dru's signature scenes. "School Hard" was rather Spike-heavy; with this ep, Drusilla really came into her own.

8. "When diplomacy fails, there's only one alternative: violence."

9. “Oh. Such a hungry little kitty. Meow. You've been a starved one, haven't you, my sweet W.?” Drusilla in Amgel 5x09, "Destiny." Guessed by [livejournal.com profile] azdak. Do I really have to explain what I love about this ep?

10. "So H. throws it in gear, floors the gas, and backs us right through a burrito stand.”

11. "Pardon me for intruding, but I believe y'all carrying something of mine."

Who can tell me the name of the episode? (Extra credit if you can tell me the episode name and the character speaking; half credit for just the character.)

Oh God, I can only do 9 with any certainty - that's Dru in AtS The Girl in Question. 2 sounds like Spike, but I have no idea which ep. And 5 is Buffy, but again, no idea which episode. I'll just go and bury my head in shame for a while.

By the way, in case you don't recognise me, we've only ever exchanged a few words, but I friended you because I enjoy your posts :-)

Doh! I meant Destiny, not TGiQ. And is 5 BtVS Fool for Love?

"Destiny" and "Fool for Love" are both right!

If you can figure out to whom Spike is talking in 2, it might help you remember which ep it's from. Further this respondant sayeth not.

Well, it sounds like he's talking to Buffy, and I know it's not School Hard, but that doesn't get me much further. Is 3 BtVS post-Triangle?

[identity profile] alixtii.livejournal.com 2005-09-09 12:32 pm (UTC)(link)
Hint: He's not talking to Buffy in 2.

Guessing that 3 is Buffy post-"Triangle" is a quite logical, and in this instance logic hasn't betrayed you. Any guesses as to which episode post-"Triangle"? (Considering my psychology and what episodes would be likely to count as my favorites might be useful, too.)

Ooo! I want to play! (Especially, since you're listed two of my favorite episodes *g*) Which would be:

#2. Spike to Nikki Wood in Lies My Parents Told Me. (And then she makes a comment about him looking a bit wet and limp, and says "And I ain't your love!")

#3. Spike to Buffy in the Bronze at the beginning of Crush. And then he complains about the flowering onion getting remodeled right off the menu, and she informs him that they aren't "talking buddies".

#7. I'm not certain of the name of the episode, but I'm getting a visual of Dru in the playground talking to the little boy by the merry-go-round thing and Angel appears and tells her to leave town and take Spike with her. Wait, wait! It's the one with Ford, isn't it? Um . . . lies something? (Now I've got "Lies My Parents Told Me" stuck in my head and I can't think of the name.)

I couldn't imagine what all those episodes could possibly have in common that would make them both your and my favorites. Hmm, what could it possibly be?

Hmm, yes . . . what could it be?
