BtVS: "Night of the Old One"

Fandom: Buffy/Angel
Characters: Faith, Drusilla, Lilah, Andrew, and Illyria
Timeline/Spoilers: Set after both series are ended. Spoilers for both series.
Rating: PG-13

When Angel ended, the absence of it and Buffy the Vampire Slayer was very present in my mind. I missed what Angel and Buffy offered: episodic, visual installments of the Buffyverse. So I started on my own virtual series, Dark Champions to be written in script, not fanfic format. In this way I could approximate the feel of an actual episode as much as possible without actually filming it.

A year and a half later, I've gotten used to not having my shows. Fanfic doesn't do the same things, but it does great things, and it does some things better. But I still have a few episodes of Dark Champions written, with more plotted out, and I do plan on working on it. So here's the first episode, with more to come.

The concept is relatively simple: The Sunnydale Hellmouth has been destroyed, and the Scooby Gang has disbanded. With Xander in Africa, Willow and Kennedy in South America, Giles in England, Buffy and Dawn in Rome, and the Angel Investigations gang AWOL after their fateful battle against the Black Thorn, that leaves reformed criminal and fugitive from justice Faith (Eliza Dushku) with the important task of guarding the other known Hellmouth in Cleveland, Ohio. And yet, even as the Watcher’s Council can provide her with a new identity, they cannot protect her from the past. She must constantly fight against herself, ever wary of falling anew into the temptations of darkness. But there is perhaps an even greater danger: of being so afraid of falling back into that darkness that she is paralyzed, unable to save Cleveland from the evils that plague it.

Yet the Higher Powers and the Lower Beings all work in mysterious ways. For difficult times call for dirty fighting, and Faith is not the only morally ambiguous person to find her way to Cleveland. Illyria (Amy Acker), the former god-king of the Primordium, has arrived in the city to start a new job under the persona of her bodily “shell,” the deceased physicist Winifred Burkle. Nerd-cum-archvillain-cum-repentent whiner Andrew Wells (Tom Lenk) is there to assist Faith and act as a representative of the Britain-based Council of Watchers. The demonic Senior Partners of law firm Wolfram & Hart have sent dead lawyer Lilah Morgan (Stephanie Romanov) from hell to their Cleveland branch (apparently, there’s a difference) for purposes unknown, and she has brought one of Wolfram & Hart’s deadliest clients, the mad prophetic vampire known as Drusilla (Juliet Landau), with her. This band of misfits and murderers (most being both) has a strange destiny in front of them as they stand between the world and its destruction, doing what must be done even where others would shirk. They may not be the purest of souls (those of them that have souls), but if these Dark Champions cannot learn to use the darkness inside them rather than living in fear of it, then the world may find itself with a far darker fate. Because on this Hellmouth, there isn’t any room for mercy.

*waves* Just popping in for a second to let you know that [livejournal.com profile] paynbow has finally convinced MJ from the CoA boards to get an LJ. He's brand new here and looking for friends, so we're hitting up the old CoA posters to go over and welcome him. For some reason (I didn't want to ask!) he's [livejournal.com profile] cannibal_j.
