That's the type of example I skipped over in choosing mine--because there, the "real" reading is clearly a more conservative one than the "funny" one. Lederer's book is full of such examples--sentences that only when taken out of context and mocked really become ambiguous. (Which is not to say that they aren't funny as hell when recontextualized, because I mean, yeah. It's sort of like finding the slash--sure, there's a little perversity involved in stretching the text, but it's not like we have to stretch it very far at all.)
