The Tradëscan Codex

So tinypinkmouse linked some of her podfics of my stories to my originals on A03, including some she did over the summer--and which I'd had no clue even existed! This post at amplificathon includes links to podfics (and, of course, my original texts) for "Four Times Tony Stark Met Erik Lenscherr (And One Time He Didn't)" (Iron Man/XMM, Tony & Erik, minor het pairings), "Master and Commander" (Sarah Connor Chronicles, John/Allison), and "The Myrrh-Bearer's Gospel" (Biblefic, Mary Magdalene/Joanna). I'm especially excited about that last one, because I don't even know how to describe it, but there's something about tinypinkmouse's reading that just works for me (I think part of it is the congruence of her non-American accent with the non-American characters), and I'm not ashamed to admit that I choked up at a couple places as I listened to the podfic.

Plus she recorded Road to Emmaus (Firefly, Book, gen), which I did know about before, but can't remember if I mentioned in this journal or not.

And which reminds me that eosrose also recorded a couple of my stories over the past year, and even though I did know about those, looking over my recent entries I never pimped them here. So let me point out that she recorded Fatherhood (Parent Trap, Nick, gen) and Last Day on Earth (Ender's Game, Val & Peter, gen).

Lastly, recent acquisitions in technology related to present-giving on Christmas Day mean that I'm once again able to record podfic, so I spent this morning recording and then editing a podfic (link is to sendspace; it's a 23:40 mp3) of "Tiens, Voilà Dix Sous, pour la Salle-de-Bains" [text] (Buffy, Buffy/Darla).

There's six pairings that Ari wasn't able to (or at least hasn't yet) guess in last week's meme. They're from two book fandoms, a comics fandom, a TV fandom, a theatre fandom, and a movie fandom, although I can think of at least one pairing which arguably fits into more than one of those categories. New parts of clues are underlined; the parts of the old clues I took out to still make 15 words are in strikethrough. Two are 0T3's/rival OTP's (e.g., Wesley/Fred/Lilah).

Check out everything; it's all worth it, but this clip of Krysten working as a sex shop cashier does sort of stand out.

. . . movieverse!Kitty Pryde is sitting in her underwear on a hospital gurney surrounded by Storm, Wolverine, and Colossus, who can't figure out how to use the mansion's super-advanced medical equipment ever since Jean died, because all of sudden she [i.e. Kitty]'s become really strong and stuff, and they think it might be a secondary mutation and Kitty's really afraid her skin is going to turn blue? And then an obscure script doctor named Joss Whedon enters with a ballerina named Summer Glau and announces that Kitty is a Vampire Slayer (Summer is one too), because Joss is a member of the Council of Watchers. But Kitty doesn't believe them, so they have to go wake up Tina Majorino and have her vamp out, because Tina is a vampire who was cursed with a soul two-hundred years ago. (All of her "daytime" scenes are done with CGI.) And Joss reports to his boss Alexis Denisof and they have sex and Kitty and/or Summer has sex with Tina who then turns evil and kills everybody, then cackles evilly. Where is this fic?

Because that is completely what RPF should be about.

Masochist, noun. A canon whore in X-Men movieverse fandom.

1. How old is Kitty Pryde? What does she look like? And why the frell is she an X-Man? (In the sense of being on the team, that is. I love Kitty, but there is absolutely no explanation given.)

2. Since we see Hank with non-blue skin in X2, the secondary stage of his mutation must have set in some time while Jean was dead, right? So his reaction to his response to Leach is one to being returned to a state he very recently held, right? Which raises the question, when did he become in charge of Mutant Affairs? I had the impression he was "closeted" during X2, but that might not be canon--we don't see him long enough to base many conclusions upon his scene (if you can call it that).

3. In X3, we have four distinct "times." If I remember correctly, they are: thirty years "ago", twenty years "ago", the not-too-distant "future", and the narrative "now" against which the other times are being measured ("our" past, "our" future). So Jean's age is her age in the flashback (early teens?) + twenty/thirty years (I forget which flashback was which) + the difference between "now" and the not-too distant future. Warren's age, same deal. Right?
