Re: the newest DW casting spoiler (no, not that casting spoiler, the one after--no, not that one either, the one after that--yeah, that one): Can it be next year now? (Only I want my Torchwood and Sarah Jane Adventures first.) After Martha and Rose, this is, I think, exactly what is needed.

Okay, so, erm, anyone have any idea what Madelyn Summers' citizenship would be? For people who don't know my original characters in intimate detail (no, not that kind of intimate detail), Madelyn was born in Italy to a father with Italian citizenship and a mother with American citizenship, who were married to each other at the time, and who after her mother's death moved to Britain and was adopted by relatives with British citizenship, her aunt being formerly American and her uncle native to the UK.

Take me for example: My father was Austrian [who got the American citizenship way before I was born] and my mother was born in Peru to an American woman [with a French passport, btw] and a Spanish man. My mother got a Spanish passport, my father had an American passport. I could get a French, Spanish or Austrian passport, IF I WANTED TO. I am an American by birth, and that's my nationality but I could do the paperwork to get a different one. So, if Madelyn is over 18, seems to me she could get the American or Italian nationality. The thing is, adoption complicates things. According to the law [and I have no idea if this is accurate in the UK], when a kid gets adopted, he gets the parent/s nationality. If both her uncle and aunt are British, she's more likely to be British as well. I don't how it would work, her claiming either the American or Italian nationality cause of the adoption though.

My wife and I adopted our two children from Russia back in 2001. As soon as the adoption was final they became U.S. citizens but they also keep their Russian citizenship.

Madelyn Summers probably has citizenship in Italy, The United States, and Great Britian. The adoption paperwork was probably a nightmare.
