New to Me Comics

I'm reading Ultimate Spiderman vol. 14 ("Silver Sable") because it's the one where Kitty and Peter start dating (should I have spoiler-cut that?), and I find myself getting frustrated with all the plot getting in the way of beautiful tortured love triangle of Kitty, Peter, and MJ.

Yeah, I really need to get that Spiderman <3's Mary-Jane hardcover.

I picked up the Volume 1 omnibus of old Dark Horse Buffy comics, including The Origin, Slayer Interrupted (written in part by Fabian Nicieza of Cable & Deadpool fame), and a couple of other titles I can't be bothered to remember--and I'm sort of surprised at the level of squee it's producing in me. But while Whedon's season 8 run is taking the Buffyverse into a whole new direction, these stories act as the sort of je me souviens I love fanfic for being. I mean, political hijinks at the Council involving Giles, Wesley, Quentin Travers, and Gwendolyn Post! (Young) Dawn being Dawn--you have to admit, she's been sort of one-note in season 8 so far. Hank Summers as the family begins to fall apart! (Not much father/daughter UST that I could detect, though, even with my 'cest goggles on.) Plus a lot more of really incredible awesomeness.

If there weren't so many factor against Kitty-Peter relatinship,I could like it...But when the world learned that Spidey dated Kitty it became a no-no for me...

I liked seeing before Sunnydale Buffy but I didn't like Hank much when he complained about Buffy...I mean he should have been supportive ...

I'm a Kitty fan much, much more than a Spidey fan, so while I agree that MJ is Peter's true love I don't really care if I get to watch Kitty being adorable and awesome. Which she does. Which she is incapable of not doing. I don't have an OTP, so I don't really care whom she does it with (although I'm rather bleh about Kitty/Colossus).

Not-supportive Hank makes sense based on canon, I think. He was pretty much villainized by the end of the series, so watching him pre-divorce is pretty fascinating.

The ads for the art cinemas here have a listing for RESCUE DAWN so every time I see it I think "But that's alixtii's job!"
