Yes, I think that's a good analogy! And goes along with mine -- there are a lot of gay activisms I find pretty damn offensive, but I have to admit that when it comes to someone challenging our very right to exist I'm likely to take their side.
(Although from that radical intellectual unpractical position, I do see a political value in refusing coalition too sometimes... *points at icon* :) )
