I wasn't entirely certain what this "female space" thing was supposed to mean until I read your comments. Thank you, because now it makes more sense.
Still, I don't really like the way it's used by OTW for several reasons. (Or maybe it's one reason looked at in several different ways. `.` )
One, it seems a bit of an overgeneralization. Some sections of fandom may be predominately female. The sections I'm familiar with, however, are mostly pretty balanced.
Two, this is the internet, where no one knows if you're a ferret. A person's sex doesn't change the sort of things they *do* in fandom, so why drag the issue into this fandom related organization?
Three, it makes a lot of noise. All this time people are apparently spending arguing about predominantly female this and that, distracting people from the more important issues involved. Having had friends who suffered from fanwork related legal action, it's something I feel strongly about, and seeing all this time wasted going off on tangents annoys me.
