That was indeed fun. Not quite the show I fell in love with, but I wouldn't say no to fun like that bookending the darker moments. There wasn't enough Gwen/Owen for my taste (though he sort of had his arm around her and Tosh in the cab), and actually Owen throughout was sortof unrecognizable (wtf with the speech to Tosh?), which is sad.

But we didn't realize that the non-Suzie people were crazy too in 1x01. We had to wait until 1x02 to really learn they're all mad there, and Suzie wasn't a fluke. ("We don't miss.")

So I can wait a couple of episodes to see the Torchwood team be the ethical monsters they are. (Did they even do anything even grey here? I don't think Tosh so much as hacked into a CCTV feed.) Although, really, they should have worked the ironies here of Team Torchwood trying to claim the moral high ground against Captain John.

Also, Captain Jack was kind of a [you know, none of the terms I can think of are ones I'll actually type when I'm writing in my own voice. failure of vocabularity] a negative thing in a lot of places. I approve of this (from an extradiegetic [Doylist] narrative standpoint, of course; I don't approve of Jack's behavior diegetically speaking).

In the meantime, the episode was fun.
