Yeah, I've learned pretty much everything I know about "how to write femslash" (insofar as that can be divorced from "how to write" in general) at the metaphorical knees of queer women. And, I suppose, by having such women in my flist or circle, I've also learned something (less, probably, and certainly no single unifying truth) about queer female lives. But except insofar as "what they like to read" is a statement about their lives, the two bodies of knowledge seem to be almost completely separate from each other.
