I'm glad that you found my post interesting. I think HP and mysteries do have something in common that many texts don't--mysteries, when approached in the way that Van Dine encourages, encourage you to guess whodunit, and the way that HP is serialized, with massive infusions of canon spaced apart by several years somehow has the same effect.
