I'm glad you enjoyed it, especially since I can't imagine this is what you had in mind when requesting Fred/River.
When I began to think about the sign-ups, though, I realized that although I love Fred as a character, I view her primarily through my own het male gaze (unlike many if not most of the Jossverse female characters, with whom I usually identify with pretty strongly)--i.e. as any geekboy's fantasy. Thus I ship her with Wesley.
When I began to think of her from other perspectives, however, this scenario jumped to mind. I have to admit that I began to work on your challenge even before it was actually assigned to me, so excited was I about it. (Looking at who had volunteered to write what, I was fairly certain Cady would ultimately assign the request to me, and she did.)
The pseudoscience is almost completely made up, of course, although I did spend way too many hours in front of Wikipedia trying to make it sound plausible.
