The first 3-5 people to reply with Christian scripture quotations will have those quotations used as the inspiration for some sort of fanfic, probably in the Firefly fandom. As usual, anything at least nominally Judeo-Christian is fair game, from the Gospel of Thomas to the Book of Mormon, in addition to the standard Old (including deuterocanonical books. of course!) and New Testaments.

And we know that this time [livejournal.com profile] wisdomeagle won't be the first one to respond!

I am not seriously considering Shepherd Book/Lilly Kane. I am not seriously considering Shepherd Book/Lilly Kane. I am not seriously considering Shepherd Book/Lilly Kane. I make no promises.

Try all things; hold fast to that which is good. (It's from Corinthians; it was the motto of my college).

Corinthians? I have that quoted in my UserInfo as 1 Thessalonians 5:21 -- "Test everything. Hold on to the good." (NIV) Though certainly the Bible often repeats itself, so its presence in 1 Thessalonians doesn't necessarily preclude its presence in Corinthians.

One of my favorite HAHAHA JESUS PWNS passages:

He told her, "Go, call your husband and come back."

"I have no husband," she replied.

Jesus said to her, "You are right when you say you have no husband. The fact is, you have had five husbands, and the man you now have is not your husband. What you have just said is quite true."

"Sir," the woman said, "I can see that you are a prophet."

I'm not 100% sure what "namechecked" actually means.

Ugh! What a fabulous idea! I'm sorry I missed it. Can't wait to see the fic though.

I can't wait either! I haven't forgotten this promise, although I don't know when I'll manage to get around to it; I haven't had much time or energy lately for any fic which wasn't for a 'thon with a deadline, unfortunately.

I'd done something like this meme twice before; in each case I used it as a basis for a Shepherd Book ficlet. ("Conversion" which is Mal & Kaylee and "Through the Dark She Shines" which is Book & River.)
