"Extra, extra, hey look at the headline": it's from the horrible vaudeville act in Gypsy; I don't know which production you have, but Ethel Merman played Rose in the original Broadway cast.

"Hey-oh! Hey-ay-oh! Daylight come and I wan' go home": "Day-O"--popularized by Harry Belafonte.

"I'm under your spell": Tara to Willow in OMWF

"They say that falling in love is wonderful": Annie Oakley to Frank Butler in "Annie Get Your Gun"--again, Ethel Merman originated the role.

"Just you wait 'Enry Iggins, just you wait": Liza Doolittle to yes, 'Enry 'Iggins in "My Fair Lady"; Julie Andrews originated the role

"I Keep A close watch on this heart of mine": "I Walk The Line"--Johnny Cash and a million other people, but you might have the movie soundtrack.

"Michael Rennie was ill the year the Earth stood still"--he was the star of "The DAY the Earth stood still" (Klaatu barato nikto!) and I think the song is "Science Fiction Double Feature," from Rocky Horror Picture Show.

All right. My showtunes are from revivals a bit more recent than Ethel Merman, and it might help to figure out who performed my track of "I Walk the Line" by remembering that I am an SF geek.

"Happy feet, I've got those happy feet."--The song is "Happy Feet." Since you have another Muppet song farther down, I'm going to guess this is the Kermit the Frog version. :-)

"At the end of the day you're another day older."--That's "At the End of the Day" from Les Miserables

"O-oh, who are the people in your neighborhood, in your neighborhood?"--Don't know which character happened to be singing it here, but it's from Sesame Street.

"I heard someone crying."--"I Heart Someone Crying' from "The Secret Garden" Musical. Sung by Daisy Eagen.

"This thing called love, I just can't handle it."--Crazy Little Thing Called Love, performed by Queen (Freddie Mercury)

"They got the mustard out!"--They Got the Mustard Out! from Once More With Feeling--David Fury

"It's a kind of magic."--A Kind of Magic by Queen

"Never knew I could feel like this."--"Come What May," from Moulin Rouge, sung by Ewan McGregor and Nicole Kidman

"Just one year of love is better than a lifetime alone."--One Year of Love by Queen

Exactly! The Secret Garden is my favorite musical, and I still plan on writing the Neville/Mary fic I have percolating in my brain.
