Late Memoranda

My flist is observing Beta Appreciation Day today; apparently our corner of fandom doesn't get our memoranda on time.

So special thanks to wisdomeagle, frogfarm, ficbitca_bear, thelastgoodname, and spikendru. You all have incredibly different betaing styles, but everyone helped to make their respective stories better in some way.

Also, thank you to everyone who has replied with corrections to a story after it has been posted.

Not a Mary Sue: "Batman has discovered something strange on the bottom of Gotham Bay, which leads him to a mysterious and powerful teenaged girl who is bent n destroying Gotham City! Soon, she'll capture the attentio of Superman, Wonder Woman and even Darkseid and his Female Furies. What is her connection to Superman? Why does Wonder Woman want to hide her from the outside world? How will Darkseid succeed in recruiting her into doing his bidding? Who is she, and whose side will she end up on?"

Well, I wanted to just limit myself to quoting, and thus couldn't editorialize. But I'm having issues like whoa with so many things, and I really can't articulate why. I mean, it's not like I really can claim to have issues about the objectification of the female form in art--perhaps it is the fact that, unlike in fandom, actual women don't seem to be involved in any step of the process.
