Yesterday was the reveal for [livejournal.com profile] yuletide and [livejournal.com profile] prettylightsfic, so I've updated the indices. I'm still waiting for the [livejournal.com profile] 3_ships archive to go live (which it is scheduled to do on Epiphany) yet alone have its own reveal (on Jan. 15).

For [livejournal.com profile] yuletide I wrote Requiem at Reichenbach (Yuletide version). It's Sherlock Holmes, and according to [livejournal.com profile] wisdomeagle I won Yuletide with it, so yay! I sort of feel like it shouldn't really be a rare fandom, though, since I have a whole bookshelf full of professionally published Holmes fanfiction. Anyway, my requester asked I flesh out the relationship between Holmes and Moriarty, so I wrote the fic as Moriarty's mental monologue as he and Holmes plummet to their (supposed) deaths at Reichenbach, with the Professor silently apostrophizing Holmes. I focused on the story of Holmes first case, with Moriarty as his ally and teacher, although unfortunately I had to skim over the details of how exactly they solved the mystery.

But writing the language of Moriarty's voice was a blast. Finally, a POV character who not only uses "whom," but language as rich and complicated as I could possibly want. I just had so much fun getting lost in the language of Moriarty's voice, making it more and more elaborate, and a few of the commenters mentioned it in particular so I suppose other people enjoyed it as well. Oh, late Victorian era, how much do I love thee.

But Moriarty's voice must have masked my style, because even with hints not even Ari could figure out that I had written it. Not that I don't think there any clues, of course; to me, it seems like my fingerprints are all over the thing.

For [livejournal.com profile] prettylightsfic, my requester asked for three Buffyverse actresses in a hotel room at a convention, eating and drinking and having fun. I think she wanted a pretty fluffy fic, but I don't do fluff, so instead she got Bullshit (Pretty Lights version), in which Michelle Trachtenberg pretty ruthlessly seduces Summer Glau as Jewel Staite watches and enables. And since Jossverse RPF just wouldn't be the same without Joss Whedon, I made sure I added a sort of prologue and epilogue from Joss's POV, written in second person become I'm weird like that. (Two of my requests were Joss/Summer and Joss/Tina, on the assumption that he's served as an actor on Angel, Firefly, and VMars.)

Ari recognized the story immediately as mine, which isn't particularly surprising, especially as I sort of deliberately wrote it to her kinks (as she had conveniented posted a list to her journal and they sort of fit the concept my requester had given me). Not to mention that my RPF style is very heavily influenced by her RPF. The cast of characters in itself was probably the biggest clue, with the second being the use of the second person, not to mention the will-to-poweriness of Michelle's seduction, and so on.

Which means comment with a prompt, Ari, and I'll write you a drabble. (I knew she knew I had written it when I made the offer, so it's not like I didn't know what I was getting into.)

See, 'n' I was all good and didn't request Joss (mostly since he was explicitly forbidden last year, which was why I didn't participate, since I didn't really so much feel up to writing [other] actors).

On the other hand, how about Joss Whedon/Kristen Bell?

I did feel somewhat guilty about my request, since my other requests were Summer/Christina and Iyari/Sarah Hagan. And I offered a whole slew of equally obscure actors. But OTOH minor characters are my thing, and I'm not big on OTPs, and all requests were screened so I wasn't able to write my request with an eye to making sure somebody would be able to write it, so I was pretty much flying blind. I mean, I shouldn't have been impossible to match--I mean, YOU could have written it with your eyes closed.

Also, Joss/Tina would have been teh awesome, squared.

Everything I know about Kristen Bell I learned from "The Liberation of Katie Holmes," but I don't see why I should let that stop me.

I just wanted to drop by and say thank you again for the awesome fic. It was perfect. I honestly wasn't expecting anything in particular, so the fact that it hit several of my kinks spot-on? Totally rules.

It sounds a little bit like you were worried so let me attest that [livejournal.com profile] llaras really liked the fic you wrote for her. We got together this weekend and she enthusiastically pimped it to me. I haven't read it (or any of the Pretty Lights fic yet, so busy), but I'm looking forward to it after what she said.
