So I've gotten used to seeing the world through slash goggles, and I don't normally mind it. Shipping people I randomly come across seems perfectly normal to me. Il n'y a pas de hors-texte and all that jazz.

So, one of the first weeks I attended what is now "my" church--the Episcopal Church in my hometown--one of the older parishioners looks at one of the younger parishioners, and says to him, "Brought a date?"

The younger parishioner glances at the young(er) girl at his side, then back to the older parishioner. "You mean my sister?"

Apparently, it was some (unfunny?) joke based on the fact that the boy had just gotten his (graduated, this being NJ and he being, presumably, seventeen) license and had driven his younger sister to church that day.

. . .

Yeah, I've been shipping them ever since. They have this wonderful Will/Anna vibe to them, actually.

It seems to me that I should be disturbed by this fact. Strangely enough, I'm not, really.

Ahahaha! I love this. I imagine you're not going to share that thought with them, however ;-)

I was very close to my brother growing up, both in age and interests. When we were college-age, both of us tending to be non-dating nerds, we often went off to a movie together, or to a restaurant for a good meal after some big errand or family chore. Needless to say, we were almost always assumed to be "dating." Not that I ever had strong incest thoughts, but it certainly occurred to me to wonder -- Why the big deal, if society can't see a difference between brother/sister and boyfriend/girlfriend?
