The Buffy ones naturally draw on their Watcher!verse characterizations and future histories, as that's the most developed pseudo-canon I have for them.

Cindy Mackenzie

1.) Has fantasies where instead of what actually happened, Cassidy came to her with the truth and working together the two of them were totally able to outwit Veronica. She tries not to dwell on the fact that she is more disturbed by the fact that her ex-boyfriend wouldn't confide in her than she is in the fact that he blew up a bus full of their classmates.

2.) Had huge crushes on both Lilly Kane and Madison Sinclair in junior high. (But, really, so did everybody else, so they don't count, right?)

3.) If her job as Veronica's sidekick doesn't pan out (and, frankly, it's not all that it promised to be--she can see why Wallace went and got involved in sports and stuff) she has a totally awesome career as a supervillain planned, sort of like the anti-Oracle.

3a.) Even though the writers don't get geeks and haven't really made Mac one, in my world she is, so she knows who Oracle is. Either that or she caught a couple episodes of the Birds of Prey television series once, which probably fits better into her on-screen characterization.

Faith

1.) Her mother is a speech pathologist for the Boston public schools; her father was a pilot who died during the First Gulf War. She was never abused in anyway (until she became a Vampire Slayer) and despite the stories she might tell, she has never seen either of her parents drunk.

2.) While Faith is her real first name, "Lehane" is an alias--or was an alias. It's pretty much her real name now, since it's not only on her passport but also on her pardon, right above Josiah Bartlett's signature. The pardon itself she kept under her bed for many yearrs, but Kennedy wanted to frame it and hang it on the wall, and Faith finally acquiesced out of a sense of irony, even though she wants to make sure she never makes the mistake of thinking she's already finished redeeming herself.

3.) Has no clue that Kennedy is angsting over their relationship the way she is. That said, Ken's worries aren't totally unfounded: Faith never set out looking for a long-term relationship, just kinda fell into it, and the thought of a more formal commitment (which still isn't possible legally, not in Ohio) is pretty scary. Still, Faith has noticed that's she been sharing a bed with the same person for however many years, and decided that she likes it.

Celeste Cuckoo

1.) The oldest of the Cuckoos, her brain houses the only part of the Three-in-One which remembers what it is like to be alone--not just temporarily cut off from the others and acting independently, but completely alone, not knowing the solace of her sisters' minds..She has suppressed the memory so deeply even she cannot reach it anymore.

2.) Dislikes exercising with her own body--the Three-in-One pretty much just puts the thing on automatic and turns its attention elsewhere when she does--but loves the feeling of relaxation when Phoebe is working out..

3.) After sufficient examples, has decided boys are just too much trouble. As are other girls. The Three-in-One thus turns any such interests or needs within. There is a usefulness to having three bodies, after all. (Come on, you knew the Cuckoocest would be one of these.)

Darla

1.) Is a little tired of yoyo-ing between death, life, and unlife, but has resigned herself to the fact that she's never going to shuffle off the immortal coil permanently.

2.) Is absolutely shocked when she makes a better Watcher than she did a whore or a vampire, but throws herself completely into her job (not as if she has a choice) and actually has a lot of fun.

3.) Is proud of what Connor has turned into and feels she can take some small part of the credit for it, because she's the one who made Angel the way he was.

Well, the background for Watcher!Darla is set in The Raising, the story in which Dawn has Madelyn resurrect Darla, but I've sadly haven't followed up on it yet. I've envisioned various scenarios, some with her just playing a cameo as a Watcher (which really wouldn't justify the exposition needed to remind readers why she was alive), and some more specific situations like exploring her relationship with Connor, but I haven't figured anything out yet.

Connor! Go with the Connor relationship, please! [It amuses me greatly that if anyone would see Darla and Connor together, in the pff chance they actually bought she was his mother, they'd be mighty freaked out.]

That goes double when one considers that "The Raising" takes place in 2017, so Connor would be, like, thirty-three.

I like the idea of a Darla&Connor piece, I just don't have a plot. Maybe I could work it into the Dawn/Connor plotbunny I have? No, wait--the dates don't work out. Hmm.

I have so many projects planned in any case.....

And I do look forward to writing the scene where Darla shows up claiuming at his law firm (or whatever) claiming to be his mother, and the receptionist is all I've met his mother and you're not his mother, and then is all shocked when Connor tells her to send Darla up anyway.

See, scenes like that are made of win. And of course I'm not biased, what with the Darla loving and all...

Also, if you're interested in particular characters, you do know that my Buffy fic is indexed by character, right?

Oh, I know that feeling well. I don't how many of my flisters there are where I've been to their site, read maybe a story or two, then, overwhelmed, put it off for another day....

Sometimes, I miss the days when it was a challenge finding good fic.
