He is drifting. Oddly weightless, floating up. Vertigo without nausea.
"Simon." Simon opens his eyes; the blackness holds stars in it. Surprising, how dark the room gets, with all those lights and all that whirring hum. Simon briefly understands why River talks to Serenity, an ongoing little dialogue that lulls him to sleep most nights. But...there had been...oh, yes.
"Yes, River?" His voice is cracking with tiredness. He wants to lie down, then remembers he is lying down. Sleep is what he wants. So soft, this bed...
"Do you know what DNA is?" Simon spends a long moment pondering this.
"You mean as in genetics?"
"Do you know what it is?" River asks.
"It's a... protein." Simon squints into the black, then lifts his head up to look around. He can see a faint line of light under the door.
"It's a response set." After a moment River adds, from somewhere to his left, "Endless."
"I...yes?" He thinks he can see it twisting in the darkness, or maybe that's just his imagination.
"Better than a program. You can give it variants on inputs. It can guess."
"Mmf." Simon turns on his side, away from her. There's a rustling noise, and she comes to kneel on his mattress, shaking his shoulder insistently.
"Simon, wake up."
Simon moans. "River..."
"Wake up." She pokes him in the ribs. Hard.
"Ouch!" He sits up, and she tumbles off the bed, with a dull sounds of flesh hitting various hard objects. It unnerves him, how silently she fell, when all he can do is hear her--no whimpers or shrieks to guide him.
"Simon." There's only the barest hint of reproach in her voice. Simon sighs."I'm sorry. Did you bump anything?"
"My knee." Simon pushes himself off the bed, carefully, waving his hands slowly into nothingness. There, flesh. A...what is it? Shoulder. He finds his way up to her face, then drops his hands.
"I'll turn on a light."
"No!" She pulls on his hands when he goes to stand, pulls him back down. "You don't need it."
"I can't see."
"Here." She pokes her foot into his knee, and, sighing, he feels around for hers. Stickiness.
"You're bleeding." Oh, god. Now he's made her bleed. He didn't mean to... He stands, to go for the light, and she pulls him down again.
"I need my kit, River."
"No."
"River-"
"No." He can barely make out a shadow in the darkness. She seems to be curled over her knee. "It aches." She tilts her head up. "But, see? I fell off the bed, and caught myself on my hands." She holds her hands out, and Simon takes them. Rough.
"Did you get rug-burn?"
"I caught myself," River says. "Even though I never fell that way before. Don't you see?" She sounds utterly delighted.
"I'm getting my kit."
She pulls him down again, and he falls, sprawling across the floor, hitting his head against the side of her bed. He lies, dazed, beginning to be angry.
River moves her legs restlessly; they lie pinned beneath his stomach. Simon hauls himself up, onto hands and knees. He runs his hands over his chest. Blood. Her blood everywhere.
"Oh, god." River's hands find his. "River..." She guides his hand to his mouth, unusually strong in this strange twilight room. "It's--"
"Shh," River says. "Taste." Her voice sounds, very close to his ear, and his hair stirs. "DNA."

Wow slightly creepy with the end part, but very intense, gotta love the bond between these two. Nice ficlet hon *hugs*
From: [identity profile] ascadulineadept.livejournal.com
It sounds much ... kinkier ... in retrospect.

But hey, why not!

Glad you liked it ^.^
From: [identity profile] fuschia.livejournal.com
How wonderfully intense! I love River's insistence, her strangeness, and all the details of their proximity, their physicality. Wow!

Ollie Queen is a dirty old man, and if there is a hell, he's bound for it. This isn't exactly what you'd call news, but he's being forcibly reminded lately.

The third time Supergirl "accidentally" flashes him (always when nobody else is around) he starts to think he might not have the only dirty mind in the place. He's spending an uncomfortable amount of time thinking about those little white shorts, wondering if it's worth asking Big Blue what the age of consent is on Krypton.

It's not just the peep show, either. The flirting is reaching ridiculous proportions. The day before yesterday, she actually felt up his bicep, giggling- who does that?

But the last straw- the very last- comes when he's walking chastely down the hall. The door to the shower opens (who the hell puts a shower in the middle of the hall, anyway?), and there she is, framed by a puff of steam, in nothing but a towel and those damn panties. And he suddenly doesn't care if the cops, Superman, and the Pope are ten minutes away and closing.

He pushes her back into the shower and slaps the lock. She's not even surprised, the minx, kissing him eagerly and reaching for his belt. He pushes her hands away, sinking to his knees. He yanks those too-tempting panties down with his teeth, barely getting them past her thighs before diving in to taste her.

She moans gorgeously, and Ollie prays the Watchtower is well-soundproofed. Then he remembers that there are at least half a dozen mind readers in the building. But that doesn't matter, because by now she's coming, body shaking, walls squeezing his fingers hard enough to bruise. She recovers quickly, pulling him up so she can take his place.

If he's got to be an old man anyway, might as well be a dirty one, Ollie reasons as she unbuckles his belt. The perks are so much better.

OH MY GOD YOU WROTE IT!!! Awesome, awesome and funny and SEXY.

Oh man, thank you SO MUCH for this hot piece of porn! Heh. Never thought I'd ever type those words but, oh my, thank you! I've had Ollie/Kara on the brain ever since the first ep of JLU. They're such an awesome team, and let's be honest -- Ollie is a dirty old man! *evil grin* Kara would be the best kind of temptation ;)

Alas, I don't have an Ollie or a Supergirl icon, so we'll settle for Dinah punching Ollie's lights out.

fairy tales: Gretel/Witch, PG-13

Date: 2007-06-09 05:37 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] alixtii.livejournal.com
The best food was cooked for poor Hansel, but Gretel and the witch ate nothing but crab-shells, and she would fall asleep each night alongside his cage, crying and lamenting his fate. And the witch, who, despite being very wicked, was not really unkind, said to her, "It is not good for you to cry yourself to sleep, my dear. Soon you will have no tears left. Come with me, my girl, and sleep with me in my bed." And so from that point on Gretel would sleep with the witch in the witch's bed but at night once the witch had fallen asleep, she would sneak out of the bed and go to Hansel's cage and cry beside it, and then return to the witch's bed in the morning before she awoke.

This continued for another week, until the witch told Gretel to stir herself and fetch some water, for whether he was fat or lean, her brother was to be cooked the next morning. Ah, how the poor little sister did lament when she had to fetch the water, and how her tears did flow down her cheeks!

But the witch was as wise as she was wicked, and had spoken true, and soon Gretel had cried so much that she had no tears left. And so, having exhausted her giref in this fashion, she brought the water back to the witch so that her brother would be able to be boiled in it, and the next morning she went out and hung the cauldron filled with the water and lit a fire underneath.

"Now," said the witch, releasing Hansel from his cage and bringing him to the cauldron. "Remove your brother's clothes from his body, so we can put him in the cauldron to boil."

"What shall I do with them, old woman?" Gretel asked the witch, as she took off all of her brother's clothes.

"Throw them on the fire," the witch answered. "They shan't be needed anymore."

And so Gretel threw Hansel's clothing into the fire beneath the cauldron, and then she and the witch put him into the cauldron to boil, and then once he had boiled long enough to be eaten they set a table and feasted on poor Hansel, and through it all Gretel's eyes remained dry.

The witch and Gretel lived together for many more years, until the old woman grew older still and passed into death. Gretel did not shed any tears over her the witch's grave, however, for she had used them all up on her brother so many years ago.

Peter Pan: Hook/Wendy, bloodied, R

Salvation

She grips the dagger. She's not sure what she is afraid of. He hasn't tried to touch her, but his eyes. There is something about his eyes, something that makes her fingers tighten around the hilt, her thumb brushing slightly against the silver blade. She holds it tucked just behind her skirts, breathing heavy with the waiting. Waiting for him to move, speak, do something, anything, that might cause her to spring into action. She is ready.

But he merely sits at his captain's desk, glancing between her and the maps, brushing his fingertips over the parchment. His mustache twitches, and he watches her breath quicken, the movement noticeable through the bodice of her dress. He smiles slightly, impressed with his young guest.

"He'll come for me, you know. Peter will save me." She feels compelled to say something, gripping the weapon tighter, ready now for him to respond, ready now for violence.

He rises from his chair, the smile broadening. "Ah, yes. I've no doubt that the boy will come. But save you? Of that I'm not nearly so certain." One step forward, another. His boots sound heavy on the wooden floor of the cabin. He knocks his hook upon the desk sharply, causing her to jump. "Wendy." He says her name. He says her name like one holds a flower, delicate and soft, like the wind blowing over a sandy beach, like the scent of the air after a storm. "Wendy," he whispers it now, taking another step closer.

She waits, heart pounding thickly in her chest. She tries to force his voice over her body instead of through it, slicing and melting her the way she finds it doing. Her muscles tighten. She whips out the dagger with a stiff arm, shaking a little. "I'm afraid, Captain Hook, that you mistake me for a helpless little girl." Her voice catches at the end, and she wants to cry.

Hook advances, heedless of the weapon, and caresses her cheek with the flat of his hook, weakening her knees. "My dear Wendy. I could never-" She has to stop his voice, cutting through, churning her insides like a giant motor, and the only way she can think to do it, is a quick slice of the dagger across his stomach, barely cutting the fabric. But he stops speaking.

They stare at the wound, a small smile remaining on the captain's face. After a moment, blood begins to seep from the cut, and Wendy gasps, the dagger dropping from her shuddering hand. "You see, Wendy. You are far from helpless. It would do you good to remember that."

He presses her small hand to his side, wincing at the pressure. Her hands stop shaking, feeling the pulse of him so close against her. She looks up to his face, and finally sees his eyes. When she pulls her hand away, it is red, bloodied.

I love Neverland fic, it's always so resonant, and Hook/Wendy is a wonderful pairing. And you write it so evocatively! Thank you for particpating, and such a great little ficlet.

Sorry it's not porn-y. Maybe I'll do better next time. I'm not really happy with this, but I tried! Again, maybe my next try will be better.

I barely looked up from my homework when Karen stormed in through the front door. She hurled her bright pink Barbie backpack to the ground and stomped over to where I sat, flinging herself onto the couch with such force that I bounced, adding an extra pen stroke to the end of the word "Washington." I'm not a subtle person, but even I knew what I was clearly supposed to do now.

"What's wrong?"

Karen pushed her lips together in what she would have called a gigundo pout and crossed her arms over her chest.

"Ricky and I got a divorce."

"Oh, no." I tried to look sympathetic, and I was, I felt for her, but at the same time it was hard not to smile.

"We were using pastels for an art project, and he scribbled all over an entire section of our paper with black, and then tried to scratch it off, but it smeared and was gross, and all I said was he ruined it so he'd have to do the whole thing over, and he said we were supposed to do it together, and I said..." I'll be honest with you. I faded out a little here. I love Karen, but she can be a bit of a chatterbox. "...and now he's going to be Pamela Harding's boyfriend instead, and she told Leslie and Jannie that Ricky divorced me because I'm a big lesbian."

Well. That certainly got my attention.

"She said that?"

"Yes. What is that?"

I thought about telling her to ask Mom or Watson, but it's important to be honest with children. If they sense your discomfort with a topic, they will develop deep psychological issues one day. And as a big sister and baby-sitter, it was my duty to keep Karen from developing serious issues about lesbians.

"I looked it up in the dictionary in Ms. Colman's classroom, but it wasn't there."

"It's a girl who has a girlfriend instead of a boyfriend."

Karen looked thoughtful.

"I think I am a lesbian."

It's very rare that I'm left speechless. But this was one of those times. Luckily, Karen never notices such things. She just kept on talking.

"I don't like boys. They're dumb and gross. I think I would rather have a pretend wife instead of a pretend husband."

I just nodded.

"Will you be my girlfriend, Kristy?"

"Karen, I..."

"Please, Kristy?"

"I think...wouldn't you rather have a girlfriend your own age?"

I should have known Karen would be too smart not to see right through me. She knows me too well. She knows exactly what she's doing when she pokes out her lower lip and stares at me with those big blue eyes.

"I don't think sisters can be girlfriends."

"But why not?"

Karen is a very smart kid. Unfortunately for me, that means she questions everything.

"There's a law, that relatives can't date each other."

I can see wheels turning. I already know she's won. I just hope she hasn't figured that out yet.

"But we're not really sisters."

"And I have a boyfriend."

"You like Bart more than me?"

And when the waterworks start, I'm done. All I can do is sigh.

"Why don't we go to the movies? Just the two of us?"

Her face immediately brightens.

"You mean, like a date?"

Before I can answer her - not that I really had an answer for her - she's running off to change.

What have I done?

Heeee! Oooh, that is so adorable! Karen's such a manipulative little sneak (but in the cute way). She's a smart kid; boys ARE dumb and gross!

I love Kristy's acceptance of her impending defeat. So true.

I tend to be a Karen-hater, but I suspect that if she were an actual child I'd like being around her. She's a smart one.
