Spiderman <3s Mary-Jane

I've finished the Spiderman <3s Mary-Jane hardcover (yesterday afternoon) and I can only say, OMG, so awesome, so very awesome, so exactly what I wanted. Dates! Drama! Friendship! Homecoming! Basckstabbing teenagers! Sappy sentimental denouements! High school!

Now we just need a) for it to incorporate Ultimate canon so that Kitty can show up, and b) for there to be an X-Men version that's all about people falling in love at Xavier's. Really, this sort of stuff is really why I prefer New X-Men even to Astonishing, but even New can become very caught up in, you know, plot (and by plot I mean "plot other than that of a romantic comedy"). And I enjoy plot, I enjoy science fiction and fantasy and social commentary, but sometimes I just want to read about young love.

Just so, so awesome.

Just curious who do you want for Peter? Kitty? MJ? Gwen? Firestar? Felicia?

Well, the title of the series is Spiderman <3s Mary-Jane and MJ is the POV character with whom we're supposed to be identifying. . . .

I love Kitty/Peter (identifying with Kitty rather than Peter) a lot in Ultimateverse (in part because Kitty/Colossus leaves me cold in pretty much any 'verse) but I never expect the OTP in any 'verse (except for ones that are deliberately different, like a What if?) to be anything but Peter/MJ. Not that I would have a problem with it if there were a 'verse where Kitty/Peter ended happily--far from it.

I'm just happy that Ultimate!Colossus is gay, and only seems to be interested in Northstar, at the very least it's saved us from Kitty/Piotr in the Ultimate verse.

It is a wonderful series! I'm always glad to see someone else enjoying it as much as I do. :)

I can't wait for it to start up again with Moore/Alphona!

not exactly "all about people falling in love at Xavier's", but the miniseries of X-Men First Class was adorably lighthearted and fun, with some cute Scott/Jean moments. They've continued the title into a longer series which is NOT good, but the first few (erm, can't remember off the top of my head if there are 4 or 6 -- can check my comic stash for you when I get home) are really nice, with beautiful artwork. Definitely check those out if you can find them.
