I loved Daughters of Jerusalem (Canticle for These Women). It might be that most of the credit should go to the original fic, Daughters of Jerusalem by Hth, but I enjoyed both of them and they're both worth reading. Both of them deliver a wonderful Mal/River relationship, and lots of little character moments.

You know how sometimes you finish a fic and you've loved spending time with the characters so much that you just wish there was more? That's why I love that there's two versions of this fic.

In the End (Through Eden Took Her Solitary Way Remix) tells the story (or rather, stories) of Eve during the end of "Not Fade Away." Those of you who know me know that I love "Not Fade Away," and I love Eve, and so it's no surprise that I love this fic. The remixer has a nice control of their language, and the depth of the characterization is fabulous: Go where?" she whispers and lets her knees give way, collapsing to the floor and waiting for the building to eat her up as it dies around her.

Why has no one recced Mortal Taste (Theodicy, the Lilah Morgan Remix)? It's an amazing AU (some of the AU comes from the original fic Theodicy by Jintian, of course, which is also worth reading, but much is also new) in which . . . well, read it for yourself, but it works so well. Delightfully dark and twisted.

Another WTF-why-has-no-one-recced-this fic is Sweet, Sour, and Sweet Again (The Monster at the End of this Book Remix). It's a story about Fred and Cordelia, and Dennis appears, and its incredibly poignant, and the things it does with language is wonderful, and it just nails the pretentious metafic genre: Well, if he were alive, for instance, and if he were reading this story -- in short, if he were you -- Dennis would be killing Cordelia. So on the whole it's fortunate he's dead and only handing her a hairbrush, hoping she'll move from on from singing and start with the makeovers.
