I haven't been exactly prolific this summer:

July

Five Summers That Never Were (BtVS, Buffy/Cordelia, Buffy/Willow, Buffy/Tara, Buffy/Fred, Buffy/Faith, R
Buffy's summers were never like this. (For the [livejournal.com profile] femslash_today 4th of July porn battle.)

Violence and Diplomacy (Star Trek:Voyager, Kathryn Janeway/Living!Witness!Janeway, R)
"When diplomacy fails, there's only one alternative," the holographic Janeway said as she took off her black leather gloves. (For the [livejournal.com profile] femslash_today 4th of July porn battle.)

Daywalking (BtVS, Amanda/Kennedy/Dawn/Faith/Vi/Shannon/Caridad/Buffy/Everyone, PG-13)
Sequel to Dayswimming.

August

Indian Summer (X-Men movieverse, Bobby/Rogue, R)
"You going to put a shirt on?" Rogue asked, trying to sound nonchalant. (For [livejournal.com profile] fandom_mashup.)

September

Flatshare (BtVS/VMars, Ethan/Drusilla/Dawn, PG)
Ethan has flatmates. Chaos ensues. (For the Dark Goddess ficathon.)

Vials of Ivory and Uncoloured Glass, Unstoppered (X-Men movieverse, Moira McTaggert, PG)
Women beware women, in days of auld lang syne. (For the [livejournal.com profile] xmmficathon.)

Imagined Grace (Astonishing X-Men, Emma/Kitty, NC-17)
If Emma Frost were the sort of person with qualms about using her telepathic powers, she supposes, she'd view entering Kitty's dreams as some sort of violation.

Huh?

I don't get this.

As of forever, anyone can create an account (for free) and then create a community (also for free) and then run the community however they want. I've done it myself, with [livejournal.com profile] iluvmycaptain, although as mods go you couldn't call me strict.

If the user wants nifty graphics or whatever, they can pay a marginal fee to get a paid account. It's been this way since forever, right? So if I want to create a community about how much I love iced tea, and banned anyone who said bad things about iced tea, that'd be fine, right?

So why would anyone (iced tea manufacturers, say) want to pay what is presumably a much larger amount of money in order to be the "official" community? And why would anyone have a problem with that?

(Sponsored features, OTOH . . . I can very easily see how that could be an issue.)

It's surprising how many of these I've only half-read.

Which also reminds me that I'm taking the GRE Lit in a month, and I should start reading up in preparation.
