I highly encourage anyone able to produce the sort of stuff TWC is looking for (and it's a broad range!) to submit things. For a selfish reason, of course: I highly encourage it because I want to read it. I'm already shaking with anticipation at the thought of all that acafannish meta in one place!

It's the Slayers and Potentials Round at
femslash_minis! Vi! Amanda! Kennedy! Molly! Caridad! Shannon! And all the rest. So head over there and make requests, so we can have lots and lots of potential fic. (So far there's been a lot of requests for historical Slayer fic and the ilk. But where's the fun in that when you can be writing Vi/Kennedy or Molly/Caridad?)

Also of the Mini Ficathon species, we have
hetfic_minis, the newcomer to the block, which is currently having sign-ups for its first round. The subject is Buffy Summers.
Transformative Works and Cultures (TWC) is a Gold Open Access international peer-reviewed journal published by the Organization for Transformative Works edited by Kristina Busse (The stuff that goes where the ellipsis is covers some pretty important stuff, so check it out. The whole thing can be found at Kristina's blog, as well as on the journal website, and elsewhere. And the .pdf is all pretty and everything.kbusse) and Karen Hellekson (
khellekson). TWC publishes articles about popular media, fan communities, and transformative works, broadly conceived. [. . .] TWC’s aim is twofold: to provide a publishing outlet that welcomes fan-related topics, and to promote dialogue between the academic community and the fan community.
[. . .]
TWC has rolling submissions. Contributors should submit online through the Web site (http://journal.transformativeworks.org). Inquiries may be sent to the editors (editor@transformativeworks.org).
The call for papers is available as a .pdf download sized for U.S. Letter or European A4. Please feel free to link, download, print, distribute, or post.

The most appalling thing about thisYeah, this is the government we (meaning Bush and his administration; I wasn't involved or even asked for my opinion) put into power.
is that the student who has been condemned to death for downloading a report on women's rights has been charged and condemned for blasphemy against Islam. I am far from convinced that the Afghan President or Senate will pay much attention to what we say, because presumably part of the point of this case is to demonstrate that they can be just as foul as the Taliban to bits of their electorate who are nostalgic for the good old days, but we should still sign anyway here.
