penknife has an interesting poll here. It made me reallize all the types of fic I've never written: I've never written genderswap (or have I? I don't remember); my bodyswap epic is incomplete; likewise my amnesia fic (planned title: "The Dawn Identity"); I've never written mpreg or wingfic or crossdressing or pretending to be married or. . . .

So what are genderswap and wingfic, anyway? And although I can sort of infer what bodyswap is I've never come across that either...

Wingfic is fic where one or more characters have wings, either because they've always had them or because they wake up one day with them.

Genderswap is fic where one or more characters have the opposite sex they do in canon, either because it's an AU or because one wakes up one day the opposite sex.

Bodyswap is where two characters switch bodies.

Cracked-out canons like Buffy or SGA may even have one or more of these elements in canon. . . .
