Totally half my flist (and some former flisters, all people who were de-friended for non-wanky reasons) is right here right now. (Not in the room--I'm sitting in an empty hallway waiting to volunteer at Hospitality--apparently I'm going to be taught how to grind coffee--but either seen by me or with their name appearing on something somewhere to indicate they're coming.)

Now I remember exactly what it was that made me want to go to [livejournal.com profile] writercon in particular so badly in 2006. It's the fact that my entire frakking flist attends the frelling things. (Not to rub it in for those of you who aren't here. But I want to provide a reliable stream of consciousness, naturally.)

Good fanfiction keeps characters in character while still potentially revealing the problematicness of their behavior?

Sooooo true! Balancing character with the canon problems of their character can drive one batty.
