Give me one character and I will tell you: 1. OTP/favorite pairing for them. 2. Runner-up pairing. 3. Honourable mention(s). 4. Crack pairing(s). 5. Ship everyone else seems to like, but I don't.
1. Willow/Kennedy (naturally) 2. Willow/Tara 3. I'm not a big fan of noncanon pairings in general; pairing her up with a guy after S4 seems wrong, and there's no women I really want to put her with (in part because it would involve breaking up Willow and Kennedy). Willow pairings to me imply a certain amount of domesticity, and there's not a whole lot of characters that will work with. 4. Willow/Darla, Willow/Eve, pretty much Dark!Willow/Anyone. 5. Willow/Buffy, Willow/Faith, Willow/Spike -- none of these pairings do anything for me.

1. Rogue/Bobby 2. Rogue/Kitty 3. Can't think of any. 4. Rogue/Mystique, Rogue/Leech, Rogue/students with little screen time (e.g., Jubilee, Siryn) 5. Rogue/Pyro. Rogue/Erik, Rogue/Scott, and Rogue/Logan I don't dislike but rarely find interesting.
1. Mal/Kaylee, my Firefly OTP 2. Kaylee/River, for girlslash guh 3. Simon/Kaylee, for "I identify with the guy"-style het 4. Kaylee/Saffron, Dawn/Kaylee 5. Jayne/Kaylee, Wash/Kaylee; if I'm going to pair Kaylee with a guy, you can be pretty sure it'll be Mal or Simon
I'm weird about my incest. LOL I feel like that would make a fairly successful T-shirt at a con, but I digress. I usually have no problem at all with sibcest, reading or writing or getting off on or what have you. But parental incest walks a real fine line for me. It has to be dark and negative and damaging for me to read or write it, I think, because I can't imagine parent/child incest being anything other than Really Really Bad for the child, whereas I can imagine sibcest in certain situations not being dark or damaging. Does that make sense?
Like I can get into Connor/Angel or John/Winchester son because it's wrong and fucked up and wrong. I could never believe that it would be a healthy positive relationship.
Although in the interest of full disclosure, is it Veronica Mars for you? Because I wanna say somebody on my flist had written or recced Veronica/Daddy and I ended up liking it more than I thought I would.
I think in all the conversations about fictional incest I've ever had, there has been near-universal agreement that parent/child is squickier than sibcest. Sometimes in discussions where that's the only thing anyone can agree on at all. (Incest: people haz opinions!)
Veronica Mars Veronica/Keith is the pairing I've written, yes (wisdomeagle and I both wrote each other Keith/Veronica/Mac one year for 3_ships). Outside of Ari and me I don't know very many people who 'ship it (she converted me), but really once you have been converted it's so canon it's kinda painful.
Although I have sort of always wanted to write Hank/Dawn.
Dawn almost gets a get out of jail free card for any pairing because of her keyness. She's not *really* his daughter. Does that make it better for me? *flails* I dunno. I think you should write this story.
Veronica's Daddy is named Keith. Yes. I thought that was either you or Ari and yea verily it was the both of you. It's possible I could be converted. Can you link a girl? I'd like to read those stories again now that we're talking about it.
Hank/Dawn works for me not so much because of her Keyness as because Hank was canonically absent for her entire adolescence. So he sort of missed the transformation of "his daughter" into "smoking hot woman," and might not even be able to recognize Dawn.
Quoth Ari: "Because fandom is a funny place where a lesbian and a straight man spend the weekend before New Year's writing each other explicit incestuous threesome porn. Elizabeth's verdict is that we are cute."
I have never been averse to Mal/Simon, and Mal calls Simon "son" whereas he only calls Kaylee "mei-mei," so in his mind he's in the same generation as WRT Kaylee! I like M/K a lot, because not only do they have a lot of respect and affection for each other, they have common interests and viewpoints.
Also, the reason that incest has such a bad reputation is a) the number of instances in which it is abusive b) biological risks of close relatives having children c) skeeviness of people brought up together becoming sex partners after thinking of themselves as siblings. Mal and Kaylee aren't related at all, weren't brought up together, and I suppose it's possible that Mal could subject someone to sexual harassment, but Kaylee seems to be pretty good at making up her own mind about what she wants sexually. Also, although he's somewhat older than she is, I estimate that at the beginning of the series she's about 20 and he's about 32, which is not a vast age difference.
1. Zoe/Wash 2. Um. . . . 3. Um. . . . 4. Zoe/Saffron 5. Are there any popular Zoe pairings?
Zoe's not an easy character for me to identify with; I get the feeling she processes the world in a way which is more or less foreign to me, which discourages me from writing her or 'shipping her. . .
1/2. Kaylee/River and Simon/River; I can't decide which is favorite and which is runner-up 3. Mal/River, Dawn/River 4. Book/River, Saffron/River, Lilah/River, Joss/River, River/wisdomeagle (which is kind of a joke between Ari and me, but whose basis in reality is that I have sorta written the pairing twice), River/pretty much anybody 5. Jayne/River - Jayne's another character who is foreign to me and the two of them together doesn't make much sense to me.
I have to admit that Jayne/River doesn't make much sense to me, either. I know it's a popular ship, but I just don't see it myself. In fact, I think it's the very last combination of the Firefly cast I'd ever consider.

I just can't do the Kaylee/Mal. I read their relationship as a quasi parental one and it skeeves me out some. LOL
