The Eve of Epiphany

(No, this isn't another "Dawn, Giles, and Madelyn celebrate an obscure holiday while angsting" fic. Although if I wasn't quite so far behind in FemGen, I'd be tempted to write that.)
On the eleventh day of Christmas,
my true love sent to me
Eleven pipers piping,
Ten lords a-leaping,
Nine ladies dancing,
Eight maids a-milking,
Seven swans a-swimming,
Six geese a-laying,
Five golden rings,
Four calling birds,
Three French hens,
Two turtle doves,
And a partridge in a pear tree.
Okay, all that's probably not in my true love's price range. But I did get peppermints (ambrosia!) and Reading Angel, so I'm not complaining. (Now I just need to get her to actually, you know, watch Angel and Buffy. I've sucessfully converted1 to Firefly, so it's not impossible.)
(I remember trivia night in a British pub in London, close to Christmas. The question was what was the gift given on the 11th day of Christmas, and when I couldn't remember the answer, I was very upset with myself, given the personal significance of the day. We did get the question right, however, and indeed got a perfect score in the Christmas category. As with all British trivia nights--with the exception of that one time when the nice British couple helped us out, the female having worked for Time Out London--we lost horribly. You should have seen us playing British trivial pursuit; the games lasted for hours because we never knew the answers. What did this have to do with anything again?)
Went out to dinner with fam and gf, had my favorite food. Nice simple affair.
Okay, now to get some sleep before I finally finish my FemGen fic. I'm going to have to cut it short and I feel awful doing it, but I just can't keep on writing as far as I can logically extrapolate. I'm going to have to come up with a nice thematic moment that brings it to a close and maybe I can write the sequel some other time. Since technically I'm actually going above and beyond the required 1000 words, hopefully my requester won't mind too much.
It's also the most experimental fic I've written, where I experient with tense and person and point of view and whatnot. I'm not sure it all works, but I'm excited about it nonetheless.
