[livejournal.com profile] remixredux is up, and I've read some really great fics, and some which are pale imitations of their orginals. I can't wait until the reveal to find out who wrote what. (My operating assumption is that my flist wrote the amazing ones.)

The fic that my remixer chose to remix, Through the Black, She Shines, was written based on a scriptural prompt given me by [livejournal.com profile] wisdomeagle, as one of a series of ficlets in which Shepherd Book uses Biblical imagery to understand his own situation. I received a lot of compliments on my River voice in that piece, but the truth is I wrote very little of what River actually says: most of what she says is either from the Bible or from Shakespeare, with the exception of the last line of the fic (which I did write).

My remixer, whoever she or he may be, chose to flesh out the River perspective and fill in the blanks between her cryptic comments--without giving us too many easy answers, making her thoughts too comprehensible or linear. All of us who have written River know just how difficult her voice can be. My remixer provides us with another, complimentary train of thought in This Little Light of Mine (Gotta Hide the Shine): another process of acceptance which is different than the Shepherd's but just as powerful.

I will offer the same offer that others seem to be offering: if you can guess which of the remixes was written by me, I'll write you a ficlet. I actually doubt anyone will be able to guess which fic is mine, so I'll promise sizable prizes. Comments are screened; I'll unscreen any comments which aren't guesses.
