Hmm, I could see how one could dislike it; the male characters did get to be more than a little grating after a while. I was pretty much apathetic to most elements of the movies, but the awesomeness of Tina Majorino at least allowed me to be invested in something, so I didn't hate it.
I didn't like almost any of the characters, found the plots and jokes and pretty much every moment annoying. (Deb was rather lovely, but so not worth suffering through the rest of the movie at all.) I totally *would have* quit watching partway through (something completionist freak me almost never does) save that I was watching with an acquaintance who adored it and so many people seemed to love that I felt committed to being able to have a viewing of the entire movie behind my judgement on it.
I loved it all, but that could just be because I'm so painfully white. The only scene I got uncomfortable with was Uncle Rico coming on to Debbie, which was creepy in and of itself, and didn't seem to fit with the rest of the character as portrayed or the rest of the movie.
