A.) Via [livejournal.com profile] dragonscholar: Robert Anton Wilson is on his deathbed.

It is through RAW's Illuminatus! and Schrodinger's Cat trilogies that I was first introduced to Discordianism, and was intrigued enough to read the Principia Discordia for the first time. I found Goddess in late high school, and it was only be becoming a Discordian, and coming to understand what I found true and beautiful in religion, was I able to become a Christian (albeit an unorthodox one) again. So Wilson is directly and indirectly responsible for a large part of my current spiritual well-being, and I owe him much. Goddess bless you, Robert.
Glory be to Ego, Chaos, and the Divine Mind of Eris. As it was in the beginning, is now, and forever shall be, world without end.

Chaos embraces all, and all is merged into Chaos. Chaos is all, and all is Chaos. Chaos pervades all, and all is in Chaos.

'Twas brilig and the slithy toves did gyre and gimble in the wabe. All mimsy were the borogroves and the mome raths outgabe.

Mother, bless your servant (well, assistant?) Robert Anton Wilson, and may he find peace.

St. Galadriel of Lothlorien, intercede for us.

In the name of Ego, Chaos, and the Divine Mind of Eris, Amen.

*crosses self in the sign of the pentagram*
Hail Eris. All Hail Discordia. Fnord?

Reply to this entry with your name and post these instructions in your own journal. I will go poke around your list of interests on your profile and ask you one question about one of them. You wax rhapsodic on the subject of your interest for the edification of all and we'll learn something keen about you.

Or in simple terms:

Reply to this meme, I'll pick one of your interests, and you tell me a whole bunch of stuff about it and we all learn a bit more.

I know that "looking for Clarence" has something to do with Bruce Springstein, but beyond that I'm in the dark. Enlighten me?

In one of the concert DVDs I was watching with [livejournal.com profile] inlovewithnight, Bruce refers to writing one of his song at a period of time when "Clarence was missing." Clarence = Clarence Clemons, the sax player with the E street band (the band Bruce has played with on and off for 30+ years.) We thought this was funny and got into a conversation about whether somebody should go looking for Clarence. . .etc, etc.

Yeah, that's why I went back and lettered the elements. I like to put all my memes in one post to spare my flist, but that can cause problems if many involve lots of flist participation.

You're hard to pick, because you've periodically explicitly explained many of the more obscure items on your flist (like purple watches), and I read your journal closely enough to understand perfectly most of the other references. So I'm going to ask about geeksexuality. It's fairly clear what the term means, and you and I both qualify (right?), but who thought up the term and what drove you to pick it as one of the 150 (which is way too low) items you can use to define/describe yourself to others?

I really need to finish my animated sexy!geek!glasses icon.

I'm not sure who thought up the term! I'm sure it wasn't me. Perhaps it was the Hive Vagina. I've also seen "snarksexuality" used in a particular way. I guess I like terms that define sexuality in ways other than hetero/homo/bi.

When I most recently revamped my interest list, I did it by fandom, basically, and then tossed in some other terms... I can't fit everything I'm interested in, of course, so I try to include some that encompass items too numerous to name - e.g., "cult tv shows." Geeksexuality references both my meatspace relationship w. gvambat and my fannish inclincations - both my attraction to geeks (insert long list here) and my particular interest in the geeks-in-love trope (from Fred/Wesley to Xander/Andrew and including many other otps) and also my general attraction to geekculture, high functioning asperger's, techies, etc.

country+xander: Well, country is "the music of pain" and I like my Xander in pain, so that's my line into the guy.

code is speech: It's a political thing. You know how they got the source code for PGP out of the US to the world? They put it in a book, because as code, as source code, it doesn't count as speech under the First Amendment, but as a published text (even one with easily OCR'd text for easy scanning and compiling) it's free and clear.

Meme #B (how would you say that?) caused me to finally update my interests.

Thanks for the impetus.
