Title: Divine Interventions (2/16) [DVD Commentary]
Characters: Dawn, Amy, Cordelia, Ethan, Willow, Kennedy, Rack, and others. One of the motivations for this fic was totally to pull together as eclectic cast of characters as I possibly could.
Genre: Grön.
Rating: The overall fic will include material up to and including NC-17; most scenes are considerably milder, though.
Warning: Noncon. I do not warn for plot elements other than noncon; I will tell you which chapter the noncon takes place in so you can skip it.
Timeline/Spoilers: Takes place after “Why We Fight.” Spoilers up to “You’re Welcome,” with a nod towards "Smile Time." Assume spoilers for all of the Buffyverse canon in the commentary.
Disclaimer: This fic has artistic value (as I believe all fanfic and fanart does) and is thus, in my opinion, allowed under LJ's TOS. Portions of this fic include material which may, however, be illegal to read in Australia. Read at your own risk. Both Dawn and Beth are seventeen in this.
Summary: Unlikely allies must team up to protect Willow from a resurrected enemy and the worshippers of the god Osiris.
Notes: Special thanks to spikendru for a great beta. Thanks again!

Previous chapter is here. The commentary to the previous chapter, in which I am clever and articulate and everything, is here.
Title: Divine Interventions (1/16) [DVD Commentary]
Fandom: Buffy/Angel
Characters: Dawn, Amy, Cordelia, Ethan, Willow, Kennedy, and others. How many people do you think gave my fic a pass just because I mentioned Kennedy in the header?
Genre: Grön.
Rating: The overall fic will include material up to and including NC-17; most scenes are considerably milder, though.
Warning: Noncon. I do not warn for plot elements other than noncon; I will tell you which chapter the noncon takes place in so you can skip it.

Summary: Unlikely allies must team up to protect Willow from a resurrected enemy and the worshippers of the god Osiris. My summaries usually are summaries, focusing on the plot. Of course, with a longer chaptered fic, I do think there is more of a need to give a potential reader a better idea of what is going on in the story.

Up until very recently, this fic has been flocked due to its content. But because I deeply believe the best response to problematic speech is always more speech. . . .
Title: School of Lost Souls [DVD Commentary]
Fandoms: Buffy/Angel/Firefly/Serenity
Pairing: Fred/River, implied Fred/River/Harmony.
Rating: NC-17 for mature themes and sexual situations. Some BDSM, maybe.
Timeline/Spoilers: Takes place a couple years before “Serenity”; spoilers for both parts of “Serenity” and oblique spoilers for “A Hole in the World.” Arguably some very slight spoilers for Serenity and “The River Tam Sessions.”
Summary: Knowledge without a soul can be a dangerous thing.
Author’s Notes: For the Fred round of
femslash_minis.
voleuse wanted dreams, mathematics, and tacos. She also wanted no noncon or graphic violence, and while I did everything possible to make it clear that River was consenting here, both the power relations and the age difference between Fred and River do admittedly serve to problematize consent. Sorry. The italicized passages are from Frances Hodgson Burnett's A Little Princess. The other people quoted in this story include Orwell, Shakespeare, Nietzsche, and JFK (misquoting Dante).

DVD Commentary to My Remix
Apr. 2nd, 2006 05:54 pmTitle: Best Friends Forever (Devon Days Remix) [DVD Commentary]
Fandom: Buffy the Vampire Slayer
Rating: PG
Pairing: Willow/Xander
Timeline/Spoilers: Takes between in an AU summer between seasons 6 and 7. Spoilers up to "Grave."
Summary: There is a wisdom hidden in the innocence of the young.
A/N: Remix of "Brick by Brick" by Sarafu (
obsessivemuch). Part of the Remix Redux IV. This is the DVD commentary. You can find the original remix here.
Obviously, no one has asked for a commentary in the short time since the reveal of authors. However, I did find that writing a remix was such a fascinating and different process that I wanted to write a little bit on how I did it and what my remix philosophy was, and this seemed like the best format in which to do so.

DVD Commentary: "Facing the Shadows"
Jan. 18th, 2006 11:33 amNobody requested a commentary, but I'm egotistical and like to talk about myself, so I decided to write one on one of my favorite stories, "Facing the Shadows." The original fic without commentary can be found here.
Title: Facing the Shadows [DVD Commentary]
Fandom: Buffy/Angel
Pairings: Faith/Kennedy, mentions of past Willow/Kennedy and Buffy/Immortal
Rating: PG-13
Timeline/Continuity: Futurefic. Spoilers for “Chosen.”
Summary: Years after Willow’s death, Kennedy returns to Sao Paulo with a new lover and a new mission. Written for
femslash_minis.
mireille719 wanted macaws, cigarettes, and South America. She also didn’t want fluff, and while I’m not 100% sure what this is, Goddess knows it isn’t fluff.
“Look not mournfully into the past. It comes not back again. Wisely improve the present. It is thine. Go forth to meet the shadowy future, without fear.”-- Henry Wadsworth Longfellow
American poet, 1807--1882
( Facing the Shadows )
Intentional Fallacy: [1] The judging of the meaing or value of a literary work against the external context of the author's stated intentions, deduced purpose, or presumed attitudes. Such a judgment is mistaken from a formalist critical perspective because it mislocates meaning and privileges evidence external to the text.
[2] The dubious critical practice of seeking to decipher a text's meaning by determining the author's intentions. [. . . T]he author s intentions can never be properly determined, but even if they could, a text should in any case only be analysed in its own terms, ignoring any extra-textual information.
[3] A literary term that asserts that the meaning intended by the author of a literary work is not the only, and perhaps not the most important, meaning of the piece.
