LJ-versary
To say the same thing in slightly different words, three years ago today, I created this journal. Before I go on, let me recognize that this journal would be nothing without the people reading it. You all read it for slightly different purposes; some people are here for the fic, some for the meta. Some have know me offline and God bless you for scrolling through all the fannish content.
Let's trace the history:
YEAR MINUS ONE: Alixtii O'Krul, a junior in college, posts his first fanfic at Fanfiction.net: the first scene of Windows of My Soul. Other works follow.
YEAR ZERO: At some point--and I'm not sure if this was in Year Zero or Year Minus One, Alixtii begins to read around LiveJournal, following favorite FF.net authors like

Alixtii travels to London, where his following LJ is reduced to the time in the FSU center's computer lab. He still manages to learn about the death of Andrea Dworkin and mourn her on LJ. Derrida dies too, but I don't remember anything LJ-related.
( Alixtii: Year One )
YEAR TWO: Alixtii graduates from college. He writes more fic. He picks up more fandoms.
YEAR THREE: Alixtii is baptized. As a Christian, he goes on to explain why the Bible says incest fic is okay.
OTW is founded.
YEAR FOUR: Alixtii makes a long boring post summing up the history of his LJ ending in a self-referential sentence.

That sounds a lot of fun. For bigger fandoms (Buffy/Angel or Who/Torchwood/SJA), feel free to restrict it in some way (e.g. "vampires" or "Slayers")--if there's no one I fancy within that class, I'll just say so.

( Zune meme )
The moral of the story is I have no idea what music is actually on my Zune or how it got there.
a. Put your music player on "random." Skip songs with not very interesting titles (such as "Concerto #4 in E minor")
b. List the titles of the first 25 songs to come up.
c. Put "in my pants" after each title.

12b. Go, Ptolemy. Always take a throne when it is offered to you.

15a. All my life I've done what's expected of a traditional Patusani girl. And who do my parents think they are, telling me who I'm going to marry? I'll decide who I'm going to marry, not them! That is if I marry. I mean that was a really swell kiss and all, but I just didn't want to hurt your feelings about the marriage thing. But we can still date, right?
15b. Don't make me come out there and beat you with a leg of mine that no longer works, 'cause I'll do it! No you get in here and clean up your bloody rooms 'cause I know best because I'm 37!
( And the answer is. . . . )

So, your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to summarize badly any one (or more!) of my stories and I'll try to guess which it is. You could even pretend you don't remember the pairing or fandom to make it harder to guess.
Stories here, in case you didn't know.
Meme Hints
In the guess-the-line-from-one-of-my-favorite-movies meme, four are still unguessed. So, to help you out, I found a new quote for each of those movies. Two of the movies below I'm not surprised nobody guessed, one I am moderately surprised, and the fourth--well, you should be ashamed of yourself.

2. Go to IMDb and find a quote from each movie.
3. Post them here for everyone to guess.
4. Fill in the film title once it's guessed.
5. No Googling/using IMDb search functions.
(The indexicals seem to switch between 4 and 5. Or else 5 would be incompatible with 2.)

Google, OTCs, a meme, and various other thoughts
Similarly, if I want to find a fic, I'm much more likely nowadays to type in "alixtii" followed by a few words from the title, rather than go to the fiction index (which is linked in the sidebar of my journal) and find the link. Again, the fact that there's only one me ensures all the displayed hits will be relevant.
I've gotten so dependent on using Google to find things in my own journal I'm not sure how those of you who have the robots turn off actually manage to find anything.
. . .
One of the places I've mentioned Dawn and Laura in the same breath when I wasn't talking about the ethics of monstrosity at all was this (relatively recent) meme, where one tracks how many times one has written a number of female characters. I'm still not sure what to make of the fact that I've written Dawn (in just the completed fics) 37 times, Faith 25 times, Buffy 14 times, Kennedy 14 times, River 13 times, Drusilla 11 times, Harmony 8 times, Vi 8 times, Lilah 8 times, Fred 7 times, and Kitty 7 times. Other than the fact that I clearly do have one true characters: Dawn for Buffy/Angel, River for Firefly, and Kitty for X-Men.
And now I'm interested in doing a male version of the meme:
( male characters I've written )
The highlights of the above being that I've written Giles 27 times, Mal 10 times, Wesley 9 times, Xander 7 times, Andrew 7 times, Ethan 5 times, Angel/us 5 times, and Joss 5 times (soon to be 6!). Obvious conclusion: I write male characters a lot less than I do female characters. Less obvious conclusions: I'm surprised at how many Mal stories I've written--more than River stories, even! It's kind of hard to argue from the data, then, that I don't have male One True Characters, even though I sort of feel I don't. I can explain away Giles as less the result of being a One True Character than just being shipped with one, but not all of my Giles stories are Giles/Dawn. And Joss is clearly my OTC for RPF. (I've written Summer all of once.)
